GREENWOOD, Ind. - Omaha Track and Field athletes Emma Klein (Gower, Mo.), Lilly Smith (Ankeny, Iowa) and Avyn Urbanski (Grand Island, Neb.) were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team®, the organization announced Tuesday.
To be named to the Academic All-District Team®, student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, be a sophomore or above, compete in 90% of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66% of the institution's games. For track and field athletes, an individual must have a top-50 regional ranking in a singles event for the indoor or outdoor season.
Klein ended the year ranked 31st regionally in the indoor triple jump with a result of 12.13m and 38th regionally in the outdoor triple jump with a result of 12.06m.
Smith wrapped up the year 42nd regionally in the pentathlon with 3,394 points and 40th regionally in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.01.
Urbanski ended the year 41st regionally in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.60 and 39th regionally in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.82.
Established in 1952 and selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Academic All-America ® is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports at all NCAA levels, the NAIA, two-year colleges and Canadian institutions.
