OMAHA, Neb. –– Omaha Softball enters the 2026 Summit League Championship as the No. 3 mid-major squad for the third straight week, it was revealed in Monday's D1Softball Mid-Major Rankings. The Mavericks (34-10, 15-2 Summit) have been ranked in each of the first 13 Mid-Major Rankings no lower than fifth this season.
Omaha closed out the regular season with a series victory at South Dakota Saturday, giving the Mavs 15 or more conference victories for the third time in head coach
Mike Heard's tenure (five seasons).
With Friday's series-opening victory in Vermillion, Omaha secured its first-ever outright Summit League regular-season championship and the top seed for the second straight season in the Summit League tournament. Omaha will face either (4) South Dakota or (5) Kansas City on Thursday, May 7 at 11 a.m. CT in Minneapolis.
