VERMILLION, S.D. — Senior Marra Cramer hit two home runs, drove in four runs and scored four times to lead Omaha Softball to a 13-4 win over South Dakota on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
Omaha went 15-2 to win the Summit League regular-season title and finished the regular season with a 34-10 record.
Coming off Friday's 10-inning loss, Omaha wasted no time taking a lead it would not relinquish.
In the top of the first inning, a hit batter and two walks loaded the bases with one out. Cramer then doubled to center field to drive in two runs, and Alyson Edwards' sacrifice fly capped the four-run inning.
Cramer led off the fourth with a home run to left-center, and Omaha added a sacrifice fly by Ava Rongisch in the inning to increase the lead to 6-0.
South Dakota (16-33-1, 7-11 Summit) strung together four singles and took advantage of two errors to score four runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Omaha responded immediately.
With two outs and no one on, Bailey Sample walked and Katherine Johnson followed with a home run to center field. It was her 10th homer of the season, and she has a team-high 48 RBIs.
Three pitches later, Cramer made it back-to-back home runs with a drive down the left-field line. She now has 11 home runs this season after totaling 10 in her first three seasons as a Maverick.
Omaha added a run in the sixth to make it 10-4 as Rongisch led off with a double and scored on Rylinn Groff's groundout, then the Mavericks scored three more in the seventh.
Cramer led off the seventh with a single, finishing 4 for 4 on the day. Edwards followed with her seventh home run of the season, Sammy Schmidt then tripled and scored on a groundout by Rongisch.
Edwards' homer was Omaha's 68th of the season. The Mavericks homered in 36 of their 44 regular-season games.
Edwards finished with three RBIs, while Johnson and Rongisch each drove in two. Seven of Omaha's 11 hits went for extra bases.
In the circle, Alexis Wiggins worked the first 3 2/3 innings, while Maddia Groff pitched the final 3 1/3 innings as the duo did not allow an earned run.
Omaha begins postseason play as the No. 1 seed at next week's Summit League Championship in Minneapolis. The Mavericks open at 11 a.m. CT Thursday.
