OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Men's Tennis swept Chicago State to win 7-0 at home on Friday.
The Mavericks (4-7) started the match with an advantage as the Cougars (1-10) played a man down and scratched the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches.
Even though they started with a leg up, the Mavs did not hold back. Both doubles teams won with a score of 6-3.
Junior Caleb Peterson (Ankeny, Iowa) swept CSU's Justin Atkins in the No. 5 flight with a 6-0, 6-0 win. It is the first time he has swept an opponent in a spring match in his two seasons with the Mavericks.
Sophomore Kaden Taylor (Clive, Iowa) secured the team win for Omaha in the No. 4 flight with a 6-2, 6-1 over Reed Gahagan from Chicago State. This win bumped Taylor up to 3-3 in singles this dual season.
The Mavs' Sunday, March 8, match at Kearney is being rescheduled for a later date. Omaha will head south to play Southern Mississippi on Friday, March 13, New Orleans on Saturday, March 14 and a doubleheader at Nicholls State on Sunday, March 15.
