(5) Men's Basketball set to begin Summit League tournament title defense

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –– (5) Omaha Men's Basketball begins its Summit League tournament title defense on Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m. CT at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center when the Mavericks (15-16, 8-8 Summit) face (4) South Dakota (16-15, 8-8 Summit) in the quarterfinal. Omaha defeated the Coyotes in last season's semifinal.

Omaha is 9-9 (.500) all-time in the Summit League Championship. Under head coach Chris Crutchfield, Omaha has won at least one postseason game in each of his first three seasons. Omaha is 4-6 in the quarterfinal, 3-1 in the semifinal and 1-2 in the championship final. Omaha is 1-0 in the opening round.

Paul Djobet and Ja'Sean Glover combined to earn three All-Summit League Honors, it was revealed Tuesday. Djobet was named to the First Team All-League and All-Newcomer Team. Glover was tabbed to the All-Defensive Team for the second straight season.

Djobet took the hardwood in 18 games played, all in the second semester. The 6-foot-7-inch Djobet averaged 18.9 p.p.g. in conference play this season, shooting at a 51.6% clip from the field. Djobet led all Mavericks with 111 made field goals in league action. The Lille, France native shot 43.5% from distance in league play and recorded seven game of 20 or more points in conference play. His 38 points at North Dakota State on Feb. 7 were the most by a Maverick since Frankie Fidler scored 37 at North Dakota back in 2022. His 38 are tied for fifth-most in program history and tied for second in the Division I era (Devin Patterson). Djobet was one of just two Summit League players to score 38 or more points in a game this season (Oral Roberts' Ty Harper).

Glover logged 98 defensive caroms, 21 steals and six blocked shots this season for Omaha. The "Day 1" Maverick made appearances in all but one of Omaha's league games this season with one start. The Madelia, Minnesota native made history on Dec. 16, 2025 when he recorded the first triple-double in program history, logging 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in the Omaha win over York (Neb.). Glover ranks in the top 105 nationally in free throw percentage (84.9%).

Tony Osburn is third all-time at Omaha for points in a Summit League tournament game with 30 (3/8/26 - semifinal vs. South Dakota). Twice Frankie Fidler scored 34 points in a Summit League tournament contest (most all-time). Osburn is 10 3-pointers away from tying the DI program record (JT Gibson). He enters Friday's game with 220.

Omaha is 51-57 (.472) all-time against South Dakota (13-17 in DI era). The Coyotes defeated Omaha twice this regular season. The sides have faced two times in the Summit League Championship (1-1). Friday will mark the 109th all-time meeting dating back to 1955-56.

The winner of Friday's matchup advances to the semifinal on Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network vs. either (1) North Dakota State or (8) Oral Roberts. Click here for the tournament central.
