MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Omaha Men's Tennis swept Marquette, 7-0, for a nonconference road win on Friday.
The Mavericks (9-9, 0-1) now have a seven-match winning streak against the Golden Eagles (4-14).
Junior Christian Trevey (Parker, Colo.) secured the match win for the Mavericks in the No. 3 flight. Trevey fell 6-4 in the first set to Marquette's Clayton Anderson before coming back to win the second set 6-2 and the third 6-1 for the win.
Graduate Liam Spiers (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) blazed through the No. 2 singles match for a 6-1, 6-2 win over Kristian Blagoev to open the singles portion of the match.
The Mavericks' No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams recorded quick victories to open the match. In the No. 1 flight, the duo of graduate Bryan Kuntz (Cuiaba, Brazil) and redshirt sophomore Pavan Uppu (Pickerington, Ohio) won 6-2. In the No. 2 flight, the reigning Summit League doubles team of the week of Spiers and freshman Anthony Scheglowski (Lakeville, Minn.) won 6-1.
This was Omaha's fifth sweep of the season, having swept Midland (Feb. 7), Chicago State (March 6) and a double header at Nicholls State (March 15).
The Mavericks will stay out on the road to face Division III Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday, March 29, at 10 a.m. CT.
