SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Omaha Men's Tennis players Liam Spiers and Anthony Scheglowski swept the Kwik Star Summit League weekly awards, the league announced Tuesday.
Spiers, a graduate from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, was named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the week after his performance in the No. 2 flight. He defeated Creighton's Kirtan Patel 6-4, 6-4 on Omaha's way to a 4-3 win over their cross-town rival. Two days later, Spiers beat Oral Roberts' Luis Marcos Bonifasi 7-6 (4), 6-4 to earn his first Summit League win of the season. This is his second time winning the award this season.
Spiers also won the doubles award along with his partner, freshman Anthony Scheglowski (Lakeville, Minn.). The duo clinched the doubles point against Creighton with a 6-4 win in the No. 2 flight. The pair also won 6-3 at Oral Roberts in the same flight. This is their second time in a row winning the award.
This is Omaha's second time sweeping the weekly awards. They are the only team this season to sweep the weekly awards in back-to-back weeks.
