TULSA, Okla. - Omaha Men's Tennis fell in the conference opener, 5-2, at Oral Roberts on Sunday. 

Both points came in singles for the Mavericks (8-9). In the No. 6 flight, junior Caleb Peterson (Ankeny, Iowa) played three sets of tie breakers against the Golden Eagles (9-12). ORU's Jack Berry won the first set 7-6 (4), before Peterson won the second set with the same score. Since Oral Roberts had already clinched the match, a 10-point tie break was played to decide the match instead of a third set. Peterson led the whole set and won 10-8 to claim the match. 

Graduate Liam Spiers (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) won the No. 2 singles match against the Golden Eagles. Spiers took the first set 7-6 (4) against ORU's Luis Marcos Bonifasi before claiming the second set 6-4. 

Spiers also won his doubles match, 6-3, in the No. 2 flight along with partner freshman Anthony Scheglowski (Lakeville, Minn.). 

The Mavericks will play their final nonconference matches of the season this weekend at Marquette on Friday, March 27 and Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday, March 29.
