OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Men's Tennis defeated cross-town rival Creighton in a late-night dual on Friday. 

The Mavericks (8-8) clinched the win when they were up 4-1, but the Bluejays (10-8) came back to take the last two singles matches for a 4-3 final score. Omaha has now won three duals in a row and seven of the last eight against Creighton. 

Junior Caleb Peterson (Ankeny, Iowa) clinched the win for the Mavs with his win in the No. 6 flight. He lost the first set 7-6 (2) against Creighton's Jack McMahon before winning the second set 6-4. Peterson dominated the third set to win 6-2 and claimed the match for Omaha. 

Freshman Maddox Lundell (Minnetonka, Minn.) was the first Maverick to win his singles match with a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 5 flight over Zachary Kuo of Creighton. Graduate Liam Spiers (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) won the No. 2 match 6-4, 6-4 against Creighton's Kirtan Patel. 

The Mavs will open conference play on the road against Oral Roberts on Sunday, March 22, at 12 p.m. CT.
