HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Omaha Men's Tennis fell to Southern Miss, 4-3, in the first match of a four-match road swing. 

The Mavericks (4-8) secured an early lead with the doubles point. Senior Ethan Gaubert (Melbourne, Australia) and graduate Bryan Kuntz (Cuiaba, Brazil) won in the No. 3 flight with a final score of 6-1 in a match that only took 26 minutes. Freshman Anthony Scheglowski (Lakeville, Minn.) and graduate Liam Spiers (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) secured the lead with a 7-6 (3) win in the No. 2 match.  

Kuntz continued winning in the singles portion of the match. He took the first set against Southern Miss' Kale Mize, 6-1. Mize claimed the second set 7-5, but Kuntz blazed through the third set to win 6-0.  

Freshman Maddox Lundell (Minnetonka, Minn.) was the third point for Omaha. He defeated Eric Perkowski of Southern Miss 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 5 flight.  

The Mavs are back tomorrow to face New Orleans at 11 a.m. CT.
