In the series opener, senior forward Samuel Huo (Richmond, British Columbia, Canada) opened the scoring for Omaha with his sixth goal of the season, while Ryan McCleary (Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada) earned his first goal as a Maverick.

McCleary joined the Mavericks on Jan. 20 and played his first game with Omaha on Jan. 23 against (RV) Colorado College at Baxter Arena. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round (194th overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft.

In game two, which Omaha dropped 3-1, freshman forward Jérémy Loranger scored 12:11 into the first period to tie the game at 1-1. It marked Loranger's fifth goal of the season.

Sophomore forward Trevor Wong (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) (5G, 12A) and freshman forward Luke Woodworth (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada) (4G, 13A) currently lead the Mavericks with 17 points each. Sophomore forward Maxime Pellerin (Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada) and freshman forward Marcus Nguyen (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) share the team lead with eight goals apiece, while senior defenseman and co-captain Griffin Ludtke (Elko, Minn.) leads Omaha with 14 assists.

Simon Latkoczy (Trenčín, Slovakia), the Mavericks' nominee for the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award and a two-time KJ Branding NCHC Goaltender of the Week in 2025-26, recorded a total of 55 saves against the Pioneers.

The Sun Devils are led by Bennett Schimek with 38 points (11G, 27A), while Cruz Lucius and Cullen Potter share the team lead in goals with 12 each.
