OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Men's Tennis will take on Western Michigan and Wisconsin over the weekend.
The Mavericks (0-3) welcomed Wichita State this past weekend for the home opener. Graduate
Liam Spiers (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) secured an upset win over No. 66 Zaid Mashni at No. 2 singles with a score of 3-6, 7-6 (7), 10-6. Spiers was named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week. The Mavs also secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
Both the Broncos (5-1) and the Badgers (2-1) appear in the ITA rankings. Western Michigan has two ranked doubles teams, No. 64 Drew Evans and Tim Riedel and No. 80 Oscar Corwin and Alexander Antonopoulos. The Badgers have one ranked singles player, No. 60 Patrik Meszaros.
The Mavericks will face the Broncos on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1:30 p.m. CT and the Badgers on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 12 p.m. CT. Live stats and live stream will not be available for Saturday's neutral-site match against Western Michigan, but they will be available for Sunday's match at Wisconsin.
