SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha Men's Tennis player Liam Spiers was named the Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Spiers, a graduate student from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, fought his way to an upset win in the Mavericks' match against Wichita State. Spiers dropped the first set, 6-3, to No. 66 Zaid Mashni. The Maverick forced the second set to a tie break which he won 9-7 before closing out the win 10-6 in the third set.
The Mavericks hit the road this weekend to play a neutral-site match against Western Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 31 and a road match at Wisconsin on Sunday, Feb. 1.
