OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Men's Basketball welcomes South Dakota State to Baxter Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 28 to close the regular-season series with the Jackrabbits at 7 p.m. CT on the Summit League Network and 1290 KOIL in Omaha. The Mavericks close out the week beginning the season series at Denver on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 3 p.m. CT.
Paul Djobet recorded his second career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds in leading the Omaha Men's Basketball team to a 77-60 win over Kansas City on Saturday night. Djobet, who finished two points off his career high, scored 15 in the first half as Omaha led for nearly 37 minutes on the night. Djobet was one of four Mavericks in double figures. Tony Osburn made four 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Osburn surpassed 200 career threes with the Mavericks.
Djobet averaged 22.5 points a night in a 1-1 week in Summit League play for Omaha. The newcomer shot 51.3% from the field with a team-high 17 made field goals. He went 76.9% from the foul line (10-13), drew six fouls at Kansas City (Jan. 24) and picked up 12 defensive caroms. He earned his second career double-double (Jan. 24 at Kansas City) with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Djobet was the lone league player to record at least 20 points and 10-plus rebounds last week; one of two with double-doubles. He had 20-point outings last week and has scored at least 22 points in six of his nine games played (all second semester).
Tony Osburn entered the season with the 12th most made threes in program history and with 200 and counting, he's worked his way up to fourth all-time at Omaha. Once Osburn crosses 230, he will be tied for second all-time with Mike Simmons and JT Gibson. Zac Robinson (2002-07) owns the program record with 248 made 3-point field goals.
Omaha is 6-23 against South Dakota State in the DI era. Omaha fell to the Jackrabbits in Brookings on New Year's Day in the conference opener.
