TULSA, Okla. - Paul Djobet scored 20 of his career-high 25 points in the first half in leading Omaha Men's Basketball to their first Summit League road win this season, 73-62 Saturday night at Oral Roberts.
The win improves Omaha, who led nearly the entire way, to 9-11 overall and 2-3 in league play.
Djobet nearly reached his career high of 22 points by halftime when he had 20 of his team's 36 points. He had scored 22 points on three occasions over the last month.
Lance Waddles was the only other Maverick in double figures as he scored all of his 12 points in the final 15 minutes.
Behind Djobet, Omaha only trailed once in the first half.
A 7-1 run gave the Mavericks a 19-14 lead with nine minutes left in the half.
Tony Osburn then hit a 3-pointer and a jumper to extend the margin to 24-16.
Djobet scored eight of Omaha's last 11 points of the half as the Mavericks took a 36-30 lead to the break.
A Djobet three on Omaha's second possession of the second half gave the Mavericks their first double-digit lead at 41-30.
Oral Roberts pulled within 45-41 before Omaha went on a 12-0 run as the Mavericks held the Golden Eagles scoreless for nearly six minutes. Omaha's lead was 57-41 when
Khamani Cooper hit a 3-pointer with 10:10 left.
But Oral Roberts (5-15, 0-5) made a couple of runs at the Mavericks after that.
Oral Roberts scored seven straight to pull within 62-53. Waddles stopped that run with a three-point play.
Oral Roberts got within 67-62 with 1:20 left, but Omaha held the Eagles scoreless after that.
Waddles hit four free throws and Djobet hit two in the final minute to secure the victory. Djobet also grabbed seven rebounds on the night.
Omaha returns home to host South Dakota on Wednesday.
