OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Softball, the three-time defending Summit League tournament champions, unveiled its 2026 schedule Friday. The Mavericks, also the 2025 Summit League regular-season champions for the first-time in program history, are set to take on the most rigorous slate in head coach
Mike Heard's tenure.
Opening the season in Cedar Falls, Iowa with the UNI-Dome Tournament on Feb. 6, Omaha will play a total of five games against NCAA tournament teams from last season with two against Arkansas and three against in-state foe Nebraska.
Four teams on Omaha's 2026 slate finished in the top 65 of the final RPI ranking from last season (Arkansas, Iowa State, Nebraska and Charlotte).
In Cedar Falls, Omaha will face the Cyclones, Butler and host Northern Iowa on Feb. 6 and 7. The team then heads to San Diego for the first outdoor games of the year against Utah Tech, Southern Utah, FDU and Boise State from Feb. 13-15.
Non-conference continues in Troy, Alabama on Feb. 20 with Omaha set to take on Kennesaw State, Furman, Troy and Nicholls.
Omaha heads to Arkansas to battle the Razorbacks, Kansas, Charlotte and Boise State from Feb. 26-28.
The Mavericks play their first games in the state of Nebraska on March 7 and 8 in Lincoln to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the first set of three meetings this season.
Omaha's final test before the start of Summit League play comes on March 13 and 14 in Utah, facing Utah Tech and BYU.
New in 2026, the Summit League is moving to a three-day conference format with games primarily played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each week. North Dakota State visits
Connie Claussen Field in Omaha's home opener from March 20-22. The seven-game homestand to open the home docket continues with crosstown rival Creighton on March 25 at 6 p.m. CT. Kansas City resumes league action from March 27-29.
Omaha hits the road for the first time in league play on back-to-back weekends, facing North Dakota (April 2-4) and St. Thomas (April 10-11). South Dakota State visits Omaha for senior weekend on April 17-19.
The Huskers visit Omaha on April 21 to close out the home slate.
Omaha heads down the street to Creighton on April 28 before closing the regular-season at South Dakota (April 30-May 2).
The 2026 Summit League Championship begins May 6 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
