FARGO, N.D. – Omaha Women's Soccer (4-4-3, 1-0-0 Summit) opened Summit League play with a statement road victory Thursday evening, besting 2024 regular-season champion North Dakota State 1-0 at Dacotah Field.
The Mavericks generated the first momentum in the 18th minute when sophomore forward
Charley Kort (Lincoln, Neb.) nearly broke through, but fired just over the crossbar.
In the 38th minute, NDSU threatened before Maverick senior goalkeeper
Charlotte Huggard (Plymouth, Mich.) came up with a diving save to preserve the scoreless tally heading into halftime.
Omaha outshot the Bison 6-5 in the opening half, holding a 2-1 lead in shots-on-goal.
In the 53rd minute, senior defender
Lindsey Birch (Rochester, Minn.) scored her first goal of the 2025 campaign to put Omaha on the scoreboard and break the scoreless tally. Freshman defender
Presley Douglass (Elkhorn, Neb.) and Kort were credited with assists.
