COLUMBIA, Mo. – Omaha Cross Country took home a 17^th place finish at the prestigious Gans Creek Classic on Friday morning.
 
The Mavericks secured 455 points in the race which featured some of the best teams in the country. In the 6k Black Invitational, there were 236 runners representing 27 teams.
 
Freshman Briley Early (Leawood, Kan.) led the way for the third straight race in a row. In her first collegiate 6-kilometer race, Early secured a 64^th place finish with a time of 21:54.6.
 
Freshman Hope Riedel (Lincoln, Neb.) was the next Mav across the line with a time of 22:24.8 in 111^th place. She was followed by sophomore Meredith Richter (Medford, Wis.) with a time of 22:33.4 in 124^th place. Freshman Litzey Fredette (Omaha, Neb.) and sophomore Molly Caruso (Omaha, Neb.) rounded out the scoring runners in 146^th place and 186^th place with times of 22:53.9 and 23:48.1, respectively.
 
In the open race, sophomore Ainsley Anderson (Omaha, Neb.) set her third personal record in a row with a 24:48.0 finish. Junior Izzy Apel (Lincoln, Neb.) also set a personal record with a results of 24:54.0.
 
The Mavericks will return home for their next race with the Platte River Rumble College on Friday, Oct. 17. The meet will be held at Mahoney State Park in Ashland, Neb. with the Omaha Sports Commission acting as the host. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available here.
