Omaha women’s soccer drops 2-1 match to Nebraska

On Sunday evening, Omaha fell to Nebraska at Caniglia Field.

OMAHA, Neb. – On Sunday evening, Omaha women's soccer (2-1-2, 0-0-0 Summit) faced off against Nebraska, losing their first match of the 2025 season. Nebraska defeated the Mavericks 2-1 at Caniglia Field.

How It Happened
  • Nebraska struck first in the 12th minute when Ella Rudney put the Huskers on the board for a 1-0 lead.
  • Omaha nearly answered in the 31st minute as senior defender Lindsey Birch (Rocehster, Minn.) fired a shot just wide of the right post,
  • Two minutes later, Nebraska doubled its advantage with a strike from Reese Borer.
  • The Mavericks clawed back in the 62nd minute. Freshman forward Kendall Dobberstein (Gretna, Neb.) lined up for a corner kick, sending it to freshman defender Presley Douglas (Elkhorn, Neb.), who headed it across to sophomore defender Isabelle Milne (Barrie, Ontario).
  • Milne buried her first goal of the 2025 campaign to cut the deficit to one.
  • Omaha finished with five shots on goal, while Nebraska held the edge with 10.
Omaha will travel to Drake on Wednesday, Sept. 3, for a 5 p.m. kickoff, then face No. 22 Oklahoma on Sunday at 1 p.m.
