OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha softball head coach
Mike Heard welcomes the arrival of
Brooke Dumont as an assistant coach. Dumont joins Omaha after completing her collegiate eligibility at fellow Summit League member South Dakota State.
"I am thrilled to add Brooke to our coaching staff," said Heard. "Having grown up in Omaha and seen the upward trajectory of our school and program first hand, Brooke has a unique perspective on what Omaha softball means to the community and coupled with her defensive mindset and stellar career at SDSU, I have no doubt she will make an immediate impact on our team."
Born and raised in Papillion, Neb., Dumont was a two-time First Team All-Summit League honoree with the Jackrabbits and was twice named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team.
The Jackrabbits' record holder in runners caught stealing (33), Dumont was a three-time member of the Summit League Academic All-League Team and was a three-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honoree.
"I'm beyond excited to join the Maverick family," said Dumont. "As someone who grew up in Omaha, stepping into the Omaha softball program as an assistant coach feels like coming home. I'm ready to bring my passion, energy and commitment to continue the rise of this special program."
A May 2025 graduate of Papillion-La Vista High School, Dumont finished her interscholastic career as a four-time All-State selection, hitting .500 as a senior with a .524 on-base percentage. Dumont recorded 44 hits, 37 RBI and 11 home runs in her final year at Papillion-La Vista.
