BROOKINGS, S.D. - Omaha softball extended its season-best win steak to 13 games Friday as the Mavericks rallied to defeat South Dakota State 2-0 in 10 innings.
A true pitchers' duel throughout the night, Omaha sophomore southpaw
Maddia Groff fanned 11 Jackrabbits in 10 innings of work, tossing 156 pitches. South Dakota State's Sylvia Shromoff struck out just one Maverick in 40 batters faced.
The Mavericks were 1-7 with runners in scoring position Friday as
Sydney Thomason belted a two-run single with two out in the visitor's 10th to get Omaha on the board.
Mike Heard's club knocked in nine hits and the Mavericks' defense did not record an error in the contest.
Omaha moved to 34-9 overall and 13-3 in the Summit League with the victory.
The Mavericks' final Summit League series of the season concludes Saturday with a doubleheader at South Dakota State beginning at 1 p.m. CT with both games airing live on the Summit League Network.
