MIAMI - Omaha Women's Tennis (10-8) set a program record when it earned its sixth straight match victory 6-1 over Stony Brook (4-7) at Biltmore Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
Omaha had previously won five matches in the 2019-20 season, but it surpassed that with a win on Wednesday.
"To win six in a row is a proud accomplishment for this group," head coach Adam Summitt said. "Something I haven't seen since I've been here. The team deserves rest and fun for our last two days in Miami."
Omaha had two doubles wins and started the day with a 6-1 landslide from the junior Summer Shannon and senior Keegan VanPelt duo.
For the second straight day, the freshmen pair of Nina Wiese and Katelynn Kock came together for a 6-2 win.
Sophomore Khayli Buckels beat Mia Palladino 6-4, 6-3 for the Mavericks' first singles win of the match.
Wiese won second her second of the day when she beat Mila Charles 6-1, 4-6, 1 (10)-0 (8).
Kock also earned a second victory in the match when the freshman topped Sara Annamaria Medved 6-1, 6-3.
VanPelt took down Isadora Fares 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, and the day finished with senior Jacqueline Pearsall beating Maria Perez 6-1, 6-1.
"Good end to our time here in Miami," head coach Adam Summitt said. "Stony Brook is a really good team. We played great doubles and excelled in singles. We had a few players earn three set wins, which is a good experience [to have]."
The Mavericks hope to keep the streak alive as they have a pair of matches at home, with North Dakota visiting town for a 1:30 p.m. contest on Friday, March 28, and Marquette on Saturday, March 29, also at 1:30 p.m.
