Box Score

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Omaha Women's Tennis (8-8) finished its trip up I-80 with its fourth straight victory when it defeated Northern Iowa 7-0 on Friday at Black Hawk Tennis Club.

"Great end to this trip," head coach Adam Summitt said. "It is never easy playing at Northern Iowa. They have lightning-fast courts, and their team is solid enough to beat anyone. In doubles, we started flat but bounced back quickly. In singles, we had to step up. It was not easy, but the girls found a way to pull out some wins and force a shutout."

The Mavericks took two of three doubles victories as junior Summer Shannon and senior Keegan VanPelt topped Kim Zizek and Andjela Raznatovic 6-2.

The freshmen duo of Nina Wiese and Katelynn Kock took the second doubles to win 6-2 over Kanyanut Sudsaard and Abbie Peterson.

Omaha went undefeated in singles, and it started with junior Zoe Adkins' 6-3, 7-5 victory over Darta Dalecka.

Sophomore Khayli Buckels took a 7-6, 3-6, 6-1 singles victory over Lorena Cardoso.

Wiese beat Kim Zizek 6-0, 6-3 for her second Friday victory. Kock joined the two-win action as she beat Andjela Raznatovic 7-5, 6-4.

Shannon took down Kanyanut Subsaard 5-7, 6-4, 10-7 after her opening doubles victory.

Junior Jacqueline Pearsall defeated Peterson 7-6, 7-5 to close the streak of singles wins for Omaha.

The Mavericks travel to Miami to face Colgate on Wednesday, March 18, at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT and Stony Brook on Thursday, March 19, at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT at Biltmore Tennis Center.
