OMAHA, Neb. – No. 20 Omaha Hockey head coach Mike Gabinet was named a finalist for the Herb Brooks Coach of the Year award, the NCHC announced on Thursday.

This is the third time over the last five years that Gabinet has been a finalist for the annual award given to the NCHC's top coach.

Gabinet was also a finalist for the honor in 2022-23 and 2020-21.

The Edmonton, Alberta native has a winning record for the fifth straight season and is 95-71-9 overall, dating back to 2020-21.

Omaha is one of 12 programs in Division I to produce 95 or more wins since 2020.

In 2024-25, the Mavericks are 18-15-1 and 14-9-1 against NCHC opponents and are set to host the Quarterfinal Round of the NCHC Tournament this weekend.
