OMAHA, Neb. – Junior goaltender Simon Latkoczy was named to the First-Team All-NCHC, and graduate forward Sam Stange was selected to the Second-Team All-NCHC, the conference announced on Wednesday.

There were 18 voters (nine head coaches and nine media members) for All-Conference Teams. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their players.

Latkoczy is the fourth Maverick to be named to the First-Team All-NCHC and is the first-ever goaltender in program history to be named to the First-Team. Former Omaha forward David Pope was the last Maverick named a member of the First-Team All-NCHC in 2017-18.

Stange is the sixth player in program history to be named Second-Team All-NCHC and is the first since 2020-21 when forward Chayse Primeau was honored.

This season marks only the second time that two Mavericks were named to the First-Team and Second-Team, with the other being forward Austin Ortega (First-Team) and defenseman Luc Snuggerud (Second-Team) in 2016-17.

Omaha's junior goaltender ranks in the top 10 in the NCHC (min. 33% of the team's minutes played) in several categories. Through 29 games played, the Trencin, Slovakia native, has 909 saves, which leads the NCHC and is seventh in the nation. His .925 save percentage is the second-best in the conference, and Latkoczy's 2.68 goals-against average is the 10th-best in the NCHC.

The 5-foot-11, 177-pound netminder also has one shutout this season and has recorded three of the NCHC's top five games in 2024-25 with the most saves by one goaltender.

This includes the most saves by an NCHC goaltender in a single game this season, recorded on Oct. 12 in Las Vegas, when Latkoczy recorded 53 against then-No. 5 Minnesota to lead Omaha to the 2024 Ice Breaker Tournament title.  

Since the NCHC began play in 2013-14, Latkoczy has the 10th-most career saves (2,352) among goaltenders in conference history and the second-most among active players.

Stange has produced his best offensive season since his first with Wisconsin in 2020-21. The Eau Claire, Wis. native has appeared in all 34 games for the Mavericks this season and has set new career highs with 15 goals, 17 assists, 32 points and is plus-14.

The 6-foot-1, 211-pound forward's 15 goals rank seventh in the NCHC, and his 32 points are tied for the 10th-most in the conference. Both figures lead Omaha this season.  

During the 2024-25 campaign, the 2020 Detroit Red Wings draft pick netted three game-winners in addition to one shorthanded and power play goal.

#4 (seed) Omaha will face #5 North Dakota for the second straight week, but this time on Kemp Ice at Baxter Arena in the NCHC Quarterfinal Round. Game one is on Friday, March 14, at 7 p.m. CT, game two is on Saturday, March 15, at 7 p.m. CT, and if necessary, game three will occur on Sunday, March 16, at 6 p.m. CT.
