OMAHA, Neb. – Junior goaltender Simon Latkoczy was named NCHC Goaltender of the Month for January, the conference announced today.

With this honor, Latkoczy has earned seven weekly and two monthly honors from the NCHC since his freshman season in 2022-23.

"Simon has put together an unbelievable month in net, and I could not be more proud of his achievements," head coach Mike Gabinet said. "The way Simon carries himself on and off the ice, this should not surprise anyone who knows how hard he works to be successful."

This is Omaha's first monthly conference honor since Latkoczy was named NCHC Goaltender of the Month and won the HCA Men's National Goaltender of the Month in January 2023. That month, he posted a 3-0-0 record and recorded a 0.82 goals-against average that led the NCHC and finished the month at second nationally with a .974 save percentage.

Among NCHC netminders who played in 33 percent of their team's games this January, Latkoczy's .943 save percentage was the highest, and his 1.99 goals-against average was third in the conference.

During 2025's opening month, the junior netminder started in all seven games he appeared in and posted a 5-1-1 record. He was vital in helping the Mavericks set a new program record of seven wins for January.

The Trencin, Slovakia native's five wins in January were tied for the NCHC lead and fourth in the nation. His 233 saves led the conference and ranked fourth across Division I.

The 5-foot-11, 177-pound goaltender's 42 saves in Omaha's 5-2 win over then-No. 13 Colorado College on Jan. 10 was tied for the second-most saves in the NCHC for a single game during the month.

Latkoczy also allowed opponents only one power play goal on 14 opportunities, and the Mavericks' penalty kill success rate with him in the net was 92.85 percent.

Named to the 2025 Mike Richter Award Watch List and nominated for this season's Hobey Baker Award, during January, Latkoczy moved to fourth on Omaha's all-time wins list among goaltenders and became only the fourth Maverick to win 40 or more games.

He was also in the net at then-No. 5 Denver to help Omaha win a 16-round shootout, an NCHC record, on Friday, Jan. 31, giving it an extra point in the standings.

Among all NCHC netminders in 2024-25, Latkoczy's 676 saves lead the NCHC, his .927 save percentage ranks second and his 2.51 goals against average ranks ninth.

Omaha will host NCHC foe Minnesota Duluth on the Kemp Ice at Baxter Arena for a two-game series on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8. Both games will begin at 7:07 p.m. CT.
