Brookings, South Dakota - Macy Persinger led the Omaha track and field team this weekend as she moved into eighth all time in program history in the indoor 400-meter dash.
The Mavericks have shown a high level of consistency all year as the end of the indoor season approaches.
"As a team we are starting to show very good consistency. Even when events don't feel they went 'well' they are often just a small percentage away from our athletes Indoor or Personal bests," said head coach Cliff Cisar. "We are showing that we are lifting the floor up of our overall performances, not just our ceiling, and I appreciate our athletes continued development. I know a few are going to have some big breakthroughs soon, so I am excited to get back to the lab on Monday and continue to work to accomplish those goals!"
Freshman Meredith Richter kicked off the Mavericks' weekend on Friday with a strong performance, securing ninth place in the 800-meter dash and setting a new indoor personal best with a time of 2:15.11.
Freshman Maya Bergstrom made her season debut this Friday in the 3000-meter race with a time of 10:46.38.
Three more Mavericks made their debut in the 5000-meter race on Friday. Carrington Hessen led the trio with a time of 18:58.34, followed by Ainsley Anderson at 19:44.44 and Izzy Apel at 19:53.07.
Emma Hain delivered another impressive performance on Friday, setting a new personal record with a time of 18:35.05. Sydney Beaudin also achieved a personal best, finishing in 18:59.40.
Lily Schwartz set a personal best in the mile on Saturday, with a time of 5:08.22. Close behind, Lily Jackson recorded a season-best time of 5:16.70.
"This weekend, we witnessed a huge boost in confidence as everyone stepped up, took more risks, and fine-tuned their skills during the races," said assistant coach Saskia Pingpank. "The team energy was incredible, with everyone supporting each other throughout. It's exciting to see how these performances will drive individual growth while also fueling our collective momentum as we prepare for what's ahead. The energy and camaraderie we've built will surely make an impact!"
On Saturday, Avyn Urbanski advanced to the prelims in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.85 seconds. Ashley Ostrand followed closely, finishing in 8.01 seconds—just 0.01 seconds shy of her season best. Regan Barnard also set a personal record with a time of 8.03 seconds.
Multiple Mavericks delivered strong performances in the 400-meter dash, with Macy Persinger leading the team by setting a personal record of 57.02 seconds. Her time secured second place and moved her into eighth all-time in program history for the event.
Tania Gleason and Jocelynn Skoda both set personal records in the 400-meter dash, with Gleason clocking in at 57.64 seconds and Skoda close behind at 57.96 seconds.
Two more Mavericks set personal records on Saturday in the 200-meter dash, as Avyn Urbanski ran a time of 25.45 seconds and Regan Barnard followed with 25.75 seconds.
In the field events, Emma Klein, Hannah Dunning, and Ali Wiseman all achieved personal records in the long jump. Klein jumped a distance of 5.49 meters (18'-0.25"), securing a second-place finish. Dunning followed with a jump of 5.28 meters (17'-04"), while Wiseman recorded a distance of 4.84 meters (15'-10.50").
Klein and Wiseman also had strong performances in the triple jump. Klein scored a distance of 11.61 meters (38'-01.25") and Wiseman with a distance of 10.77 meters (35'-04").
The Omaha track and field team returns to action on February 21 for the Nebraska Tune-Up, held at the Devaney Center Indoor Track in Lincoln, Nebraska.
