OMAHA, Neb. – The CSCAA announced this week that Omaha's men's and women's swimming and diving teams have been awarded the Scholar All-America Award.
"I am proud of our men and women for getting it done in the classroom last semester," head coach
Jessica Hessel said. "Within our team culture, it is equally as important to do well at our sport as it is to be successful in the classroom. Hats off to our Maverick swimmers and divers!"
According to the CSCAA, the recognition honors programs that achieve the highest standards in the classroom while representing their institution in the pool.
The Mavericks achieved the honor through a commitment to success, excelling in the classroom, and being competitive in the water.
"We are incredibly proud of our Swim and Dive programs being recognized as a CSCAA Scholar All-America team," said executive associate AD of student-athlete success
Lindsey Ekwerekwu. "This honor reflects our student-athletes' hard work and dedication in the pool and the classroom. This is an exceptional group of young men and women, and we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments."
The Mavericks' Swimming and Diving programs will return to the water between Wednesday, Feb. 19, and Saturday, Feb. 22, when they compete in the Summit League Championships at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center in Iowa City, Iowa.
