LAWRENCE, Kan. – Omaha Women's Tennis (2-3) fell to Kansas (5-0) 0-7 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center on Friday evening.
"I am really proud of this group," head coach Adam Summitt said. "It was a difficult match and uphill climb, but they were up for the task. They played their hearts out and left it all out there."
In doubles, the Mavericks lost two of the three doubles matchups by scores of 2-6 and the other ending 3-6.
Sophomore Khayli Buckels gave Kansas's Heike Janse Van Vuuren a tough matchup but fell 3-6, 6-7 (7).
Freshman Katelynn Kock provided one of the best efforts for Omaha on Friday as she batted but lost to Yerkezhan Arystanbekova 6-7 (7), 4-6 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center.
"We had chances to win sets, we just came up short," Summit added. "Kansas played great in key situations. We got a lot better from last week to now. We hope that trend continues and be better for next week."
The Mavericks are back on the court when they host Idaho at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Miracle Hills Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb.
