DENVER – (RV) Omaha Hockey (14-11-1, 10-5-1 NCHC) fell to No. 5 Denver (18-6-1, 8-5-1 NCHC) 11-2 on Saturday night at Magness Arena.
After finishing the first month of 2025 at 7-1-1 and recording the most January wins in program history, Omaha could not find its rhythm in the series finale.
Omaha scored first for the third consecutive game and built a 2-0 lead at one point.
After the first period finished, the Mavericks led 2-1 but lost the lead in the middle frame and did not see one again in the contest.
To start the game's scoring, graduate forward
Brady Risk netted his fourth goal against Denver 3:56 into the first period on the power play. He is now tied, having scored the second-highest number of goals against the Pioneers among active players.
Omaha scored its second power play goal of the game and third of the series when graduating forward
Harrison Israels tapped in a beautiful pass from Risk as he stood in front of the net.
Following that, the Mavericks did not score again and ultimately fell a day after tying.
Junior defenseman
Dylan Gratton had two assists, and Risk had two points (1G-1A).
Omaha will host NCHC foe Minnesota Duluth on the Kemp Ice at Baxter Arena for a two-game series on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8. Both games will begin at 7:07 p.m. CT.
