Women’s Basketball falls short to Weber State

LOS ANGELES – Omaha Women's Basketball fought hard against Weber State but fell short and lost 74-61 on Sunday afternoon.

The Mavericks (1-13) outscored the Wildcats (6-7) in the fourth quarter, 23-19, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit from the first three quarters. Omaha shot 35.70% from the field, 26.90% from the arc and 82.40% from the foul line.

With a margin of 13 points, this was the Mavericks' closest result since Dec. 6 when they lost to Northern Colorado by 11 points (71-60).

Graduate student Sarai Estupiñan (Cedar Park, Texas) tallied 17 points in 26 minutes. She was one of two Mavericks to end the game in the positive. It was her first game since Western Illinois (12/13/25) with a point total in the double-digits.

Freshman Elsa Vedral (Omaha, Neb.) was next up on the score sheet with 12 points, just one point shy of tying her career-high. She did set a career-high in rebounds with six, two offensive and four defensive.

Freshman Avril Smith (Omaha, Neb.) once again went to work with the rebounds and tallied 14. So far this season, Smith has tallied 146 total rebounds for an average of 10.4 per game. The forward recorded nine points for a career-high.

The Mavericks return to play against Briar Cliff at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Dec. 27 at Baxter Arena for the final non-conference game of the season. Tickets are available at OMavs.com/Tickets or by calling 402-554-MAVS. The game will be shown on the Summit League Network and broadcast on 1180AM and the Varsity Network.
