OMAHA, Neb. - Ja'Sean Glover recorded the first triple-double in Omaha men's basketball program history in leading the Mavericks to a 105-58 win over York (Neb.) Tuesday night at Baxter Arena.
Glover finished with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. He had 10 rebounds in the second half and his 10th assist came on the final basket of the night as
Aidan Skradis hit a 3-pointer from the right corner with 51 seconds left.
The senior guard said he recorded a triple-double only one other time - that was in high school in Minnesota.
"The last eight, 10 minutes, my teammates and coaches were like, 'You got 9, 9 and 7, you got to get a triple-digit. So I'm grateful for my teammates," Glover said. "It's a beautiful thing."
Glover was one of six Mavs in double figures.
Lance Waddles scored 20 of his 25 points and hit six of his seven 3-pointers before halftime.
Christian Richardson scored a season-high 22 points and added 13 rebounds. The previous season high for the 7-foot-1 Richardson, in his first season as a Mav, was 12.
Tony Osburn returned from injury and contributed 18 points, seven assists, five rebounds and five steals. Two years ago when Omaha hosted York, Osburn tied a program record by hitting nine 3-pointers.
Bench players
Valentino Simon (11 points and five rebounds) and
Brock Scholl (10 points and eight rebounds) also in double figures.
Tuesday was the final non-conference home game this season for Omaha (6-7), who won its three straight.
For the fifth consecutive game, Omaha had only nine players available due to injuries. This time, Omaha also was without head coach
Chris Crutchfield, who wasn't on the bench as he recovers from a successful previously-scheduled medical procedure. Associate head coach
Kyan Brown served as acting head coach.
Omaha never trailed as Waddles hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first 40 seconds.
Osburn, who had missed the previous four games with a shoulder injury, added a three in transition, then Waddles drained another shot from behind the arc as Omaha had four threes in the first five minutes for a 16-11 lead.
The margin grew from there. In a 15-second span, Osburn hit a three and then Osburn found Waddles in the left corner for another triple to make it 37-21 with 7:55 left in the first half.
Omaha led 56-33 at the break as Waddles, who leads the team with 47 treys this season, was 6 of 8 from behind the arc in the first half.
Omaha then started the second half with a 17-2 run as Simon scored the run's final six points to make it 73-35 with 16:05 left. Omaha's lead was 41 with 10:40 left when Richardson's dunk made it 84-43. Forty-seven was the largest lead of the night.
Omaha shot 51.3% from the field (39 of 76) and out-rebounded York 57-33.
Omaha finishes its pre-Christmas schedule by playing at Lamar on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
