GRAND FORKS, N.D. - No. 4 North Dakota scored in the final minute of the second and third periods to knock off Omaha Hockey 3-1 Saturday night in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
North Dakota (14-4, 8-2 NCHC) won all four games against Omaha this season. The Fighting Hawks also took both contests in a two-game series at Baxter Arena in November.
Omaha (6-10, 3-7) trailed 3-0 in the first period Friday, but goalie
Dawson Cowan kept North Dakota off the board through the first 20 minutes Saturday as he had 13 saves by the first intermission.
Omaha had one shot attempt bounce off the crossbar in the scoreless first period, but the Mavs quickly found the back of the net in the second period.
Omaha went on a power play in the opening minute of the second and took a lead on freshman
Cameron Briere's second goal this season.
Briere scored as he rocketed a shot from the face-off circle after receiving a pass across the ice from Jeremy Loranger.
The lead, though, was short-lived as North Dakota's Anthony Menghini tied it 52 seconds later.
Omaha went on the power play two more times in the second period - the Mavs took a flurry of shots with about six minutes left in the period but couldn't break the 1-1 tie.
North Dakota then took the momentum into the final intermission as the Fighting Hawks scored with 2.4 seconds left for a 2-1 advantage. On that goal, UND's Ellis Rickwood collected a loose puck in Omaha's zone with six seconds left, skated in and beat Cowan just before the end of the period.
Omaha went on the power play again midway through the third period, but North Dakota maintained its lead. Omaha was 1 of 5 on power plays Saturday.
North Dakota goalie Gibson Homer made three saves in the final minutes after Omaha pulled Cowan off the ice. UND scored an empty-net goal with 42 seconds left.
Omaha, outshot 31-29 on the night, got 28 saves from Cowan.
Omaha returns to action Friday to start a non-conference series at Augustana.
