Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball's late comeback falls short at Abilene Christian

ABILENE, Texas - Omaha Men's Basketball climbed back from a 13-point deficit Thursday as the Mavericks (0-2) shot 48.8 percent from the field in a 73-71 setback at Abilene Christian, the middle game of a three-game road trip to open the 2025-26 season.

Lance Waddles accounted for nine of Omaha's first 14 points. The guard finished his second outing of the season with a team-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.

Waddles went 4-for-6 from distance, one shy of his career high.

The Mavericks had 31 trips to the foul line, making 23 free throws (74.2 percent).

In a head-spinning 40 minutes, the lead exchanged hands 10 times.

Bradyn Hubbard paced the home Wildcats (2-0) with 26 points on seven made field goals. His 33 minutes of play tied only Omaha's Tony Osburn for the most on the floor.

A pair of Ja'Sean Glover free throws within 30 seconds remaining in regulation tied things up at 71 before a late foul with under four seconds to go sent Hubbard to the line on the other end for two free throws to secure the two-point victory for ACU.

Omaha closes out the opening road trip of the season Sunday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. MT/5 p.m. CT at Colorado State. Sunday's game will air on the Mountain West Network. Gary Sharp has the call on 1180 AM and the Varsity Network.
