Mavericks continue opening road trip against Abilene Christian and Colorado State

ABILENE, Texas - Omaha Men's Basketball (0-1) takes the court Thursday, Nov. 6 in its first true road contest of the young 2025-26 season when the Mavericks take on Abilene Christian (1-0) in the return game of a home-and-home series that began last season. Thursday's game is set for a 7 p.m. CT tip-off at Moody Coliseum live on ESPN+. Gary Sharp has the call on The Zone 2 (1180 AM) and the Varsity Network.

Three Mavericks finished with 13 points in the Mavs' lid-lifter Monday against Murray State in Sioux Falls, S.D. Omaha was unable to prevail in the game featuring five lead changes as Murray State held on, 85-77. Senior guard Lance Waddles logged his second career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. A total of five Mavericks finished in double figures.

Omaha shot 46.9 percent from the field on opening day, led by senior guard Ja'Sean Glover's six made buckets. Chris Crutchfield's Mavericks went 13-for-18 from the foul line, while Murray State took 33 trips to the stripe, hitting 30 free throws (90.9 percent). The Mavericks totaled 14 points of turnovers against the Racers.

Abilene Christian cruised to a 92-55 victory on opening night against Division III McMurry, located just across town from ACU. Junior forward Joseph Scott paced the Wildcats with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting. He did not attempt a 3-pointer in 17 minutes. Scott recorded 17 rebounds, the most by an ACU player since Feb. 2018 (Jaren Lewis).

Led by fifth-year head coach Brette Tanner, ACU is coming off a 16-16 campaign and was selected third in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) preseason poll. The Wildcats have won four-straight season openers.

Seven return to this year's ACU squad.

After Thursday's tilt, Omaha continues on to Fort Collins, Colo. to face Colorado State on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. MT/5 p.m. CT on ESPN+ and 1180 AM/the Varsity Network.
