FARGO, N.D. – Omaha Volleyball dropped a 5-set heartbreaker to North Dakota State after being reverse swept on Saturday night.
The Mavericks (9-15, 6-9 Summit League) came out strong against the Bison with a 25-12 win in the first set. It looked like the night would end quickly heading into the third set after the Mavs won the second set 25-23. North Dakota State came back to win the third and fourth sets, both 25-21. Ultimately, the fifth set went to the host team 15-12.
Freshmen led the offense for Omaha.
Faith Venable (Lincoln, Neb.) recorded 19 kills with four aces and a hitting percentage of .395. Lara Marić (Brisbane, Australia) had a night with career-highs in kills (12), points (15.5) and blocks (7).
Junior
Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) hit 10 assisted blocks and one solo blocks to account for six of Omaha's 13 total team blocks. It was her second game this season with 10 assisted blocks and one solo block and it was her fourth match in a row with a solo block.
Omaha's seniors have one more match in Baxter Arena this season before heading to the Summit League tournament. The Mavericks will play host to Kansas City for the regular-season finale on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. CT. Tickets are available at
