OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Men's Basketball hits the hardwood at Baxter Arena Saturday for the first time this season when the Mavericks (0-3) welcome Southern Utah (1-2) at 7 p.m. CT on the Summit League Network. Gary Sharp has the radio call on 1180 AM in Omaha and the Varsity Network.
Ticket holders are encouraged to arrive early as the first 1,000 fans will receive a replica 2025 championship ring presented by Hiland Dairy. Prior to Saturday's game, Omaha will unveil three banners commemorating the 2024-25 Summit League regular-season and tournament championships and the program's first-ever March Madness appearance.
After 259 days away, Omaha returns to Baxter Arena. The Mavericks posted 11 home wins a season ago. Two of Omaha's three game away from home (two road, one neutral site) were decided by single digits.
Saturday's matchup is the return game of a home-and-home that began in Cedar City, Utah last season. Omaha fell to the Thunderbirds in the lone meeting in series history, 79- 73.
Lance Waddles paced the Maverick offense with 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting (53.3 percent).
Ja'Sean Glover led Omaha reserve players in the matchup, notching 12 points in 25 minutes off the bench, shooting 3-for-5 in 2-point field goal tries.
As of Nov. 14, Omaha boasts the No. 46 recruiting class in the nation for 2026, as rated by 24/7 Sports and the CBS Sports Digital Network. Omaha has confirmed the additions of three-star recruit Johnny Jordan (Guard - St. Louis, Mo.) and Ethan Sheats (Forward - Denton, Texas).
The 2025-26 season's three-game road start ties the second-longest in program history to begin a season. Since joining the Division I ranks, Omaha has begun the season with three or more road games three times. The Mavericks started off the season with five road contests to begin the 2017-18 season.
Southern Utah is the second and final WAC member Omaha will square off with this season after the squad took on Abilene Christian in the second game of the campaign. All-time Omaha is 8-8 against current and former members of the WAC. Omaha has played 10 different WAC members, including current Summit League foes Denver and Kansas City. Omaha is 1-4 in its last five games against WAC members.
Omaha returns to the court at Baxter Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 19 vs. Concordia (Neb.) at 7 p.m. CT on the Summit League Network before hitting the road to LSU (Friday, Nov. 21) and Miami for a pre-Thanksgiving multiple-team event beginning Tuesday, Nov. 25 against James Madison.
