OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Volleyball fell to North Dakota State in four sets with a final score of 3-1 at home Saturday.
The Mavericks (4-9, 1-3 Summit) took the first set over the Bison (9-4, 3-0 Summit) with a score of 25-22. NDSU staged a comeback in the second and third sets to win 25-20 in both frames. Ultimately, the Bison won the fourth set 26-24 to seal the squad's third Summit League win of the campaign.
Omaha and North Dakota State were neck-and-neck throughout the match. In total, there were 34 tie scores and 18 lead changes. The Mavs recorded 56 kills while the Bison had 58. Both teams finished the match with relative attack percentages; Omaha was .194 and North Dakota State was .210. Both teams had two solo blocks with 12 assisted blocks for a team total of eight blocks. NDSU had five aces to Omaha's four.
Senior
Kali Jurgensmeier (Wahoo, Neb.) and freshman
Faith Venable (Lincoln, Neb.) were in sync for the Maverick offense. Both Mavs recorded 12 kills. Junior
Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) and sophomore Alizabeth Jacobson (Neola, Iowa) broke personal bests with 10 kills each to set new career highs.
Huss also led the defense with one solo block and five assisted blocks. Sophomore
Sarah Galligan (Omaha, Neb.) ended the match with a new career-high 21 digs.
