ST. PAUL, Minn. – Omaha Volleyball lost to St. Thomas, 3-1, on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks (3-8, 0-2 Summit League) took the third set against the Tommies (9-4, 2-0) with a score of 25-16. St. Thomas took the first set with a score of 25-22 and the second at 27-25. A fourth set with a score of 25-20 closed the match for the Tommies.
Senior
Kali Jurgensmeier (Wahoo, Neb.) led the Maverick offense with 14 kills. She needs 154 more kills to reach the 1,000 kill mark as a Maverick.
Faith Venable was just behind her with 10, followed by Lara Marić with a career-high eight.
Junior
Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) assisted on 10 blocks with one solo block. Jurgensmeier was second in Omaha blocks with eight assists and one solo block.
Eight Mavericks recorded service aces against the Tommies. Venable recorded two while sophomore
Julia Owens (Tempe, Ariz.), Jurgensmeier, junior
Davis Guetterman (Louisburg, Kan.), sophomore Kakayla Tiahrt (Sioux Falls, S.D.), sophomore Alizabeth Jacobson (Neola, Iowa) and junior
Torrey Tkach had one each.
It was Jacobson's first appearance of the season.
The Mavericks return home to continue conference play. They will face North Dakota on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. CT and North Dakota State on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. CT. Both matches will be streamed on the Summit League Network.
