Volleyball returns home to host North Dakota, NDSU

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Volleyball is back at home at Baxter Arena to continue conference play against North Dakota on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. CT and North Dakota State at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 4.
 
The Mavericks (3-8, 0-2 Summit League) will face the Fighting Hawks (4-9, 1-1) in an effort to continue their 14-match winning streak. Last season, the Mavs swept North Dakota twice. The Fighting Hawks last beat Omaha on 8/26/16.
 
Omaha and North Dakota State (7-7, 1-0) have a more evenly matched history. The Mavericks lead the Bison 45-42. In 2024, Omaha beat the Bison twice with a 3-0 win at home and a 3-1 win on the road.
 
Last weekend, conference play got off to a rocky start for the Mavericks. Omaha lost to South Dakota State 3-2 with wins in the second and third set. They then lost to St. Thomas for the first time ever with a final score of 3-1.
 
Junior Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) leads the Summit League in blocks per set (1.43), assisted blocks (49) and total blocks (57). She currently sits 26th in the country in blocks per set. Senior Kali Jurgensmeier (Wahoo, Neb.) leads the conference in kills per set (4.10) and points per set (4.69). She is ranked 45th and 43rd in the country, respectively.
