OMAHA, Neb. – Junior goaltender Simon Latkoczy was named the KJ Branding NCHC Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 20-26, the conference announced today.

Five different Mavericks have been named with NCHC weekly honors in 2024-25. This marks the eighth overall Omaha weekly honor from the conference this season. Today's recognition gives Omaha its third consecutive week with a conference accolade.

The week 15 honor is Latkoczy's third of the season, which ties Western Michigan's Cameron Rowe for the most NCHC Goaltender of the Week awards in 2024-25.

The last time the Mavericks earned more than seven weekly honors through 15 weeks was in 2021-22, and through 15 weeks in 2023-24, the Mavericks earned six weekly honors (Latkoczy in week 9).

The only time the program had surpassed the 2024-25 Mavericks' eight NCHC weekly awards through 15 weeks was in 2014-15, when they accumulated nine.

This is the Trencin, Slovakia native's sixth NCHC honor as Goaltender of the Week overall. During 2022-23, Latkoczy was also named Rookie of the Week by the conference for Feb. 6-12.

The 5-foot-11, 177-pound netminder was a key piece in sweeping No. 17 St. Cloud State as the Mavericks recorded their third straight sweep and helped pick up their seventh victory over their last eight games.

Latkoczy recorded the fourth-highest save percentage in the NCHC last week (.945) and the highest among goaltenders who played two games. The junior also had the fourth-best goals-against average in the NCHC last week (2.00) and the lowest among goaltenders who played two games.

The six-time NCHC Goaltender of the Week also finished second in saves last week as he recorded 69 and faced 73 shots.

Friday night's 6-3 win was Latkoczy's 40th collegiate victory, as he earned his first victory on Oct. 23, 2022, when the Mavericks beat Alaska Fairbanks 3-2 in overtime at Baxter Arena.

During this season in the NCHC, Latkoczy ranks first in the NCHC with 617 saves, third in save percentage (.935), fifth in goals against average (2.22) and has one shutout.

The Mavericks will travel to Colorado this week to take on the defending national champions, No. 5 Denver, on Friday, Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. MT/8 p.m. CT and Saturday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. MT/7 p.m. CT.
