OMAHA, Neb. – Junior defenseman Dylan Gratton was named the KJ Branding NCHC Defenseman of the Week for Jan. 13-19, the conference announced today.

Five different Mavericks have been named with NCHC weekly honors in 2024-25. This marks the seventh overall Omaha weekly honor from the conference this season and the first time it has earned them in consecutive weeks.

Gratton played a key part in Omaha's sweep of Miami, which pushed Omaha to four straight wins and five over its last six games. He led all NCHC defensemen in goals last week when he netted two, including a game-winner, recorded three blocks and was plus-2 in the series.

The Pottstown, Pa. native also helped Omaha's penalty kill go 4-4 in the series and didn't allow a power play goal.

Gratton is in his first season with Omaha and played his 90th collegiate game on Friday night against the RedHawks in Oxford, Ohio.

During the third period in Friday's victory, the 6-foot, 186-pound blueliner cushioned the lead when he netted his first goal of the season and as a Maverick.

In Saturday's series finale against Miami, the transfer student broke the 1-1 tie when he scored what would end up being the game-winning goal with .5 seconds remaining in the first period. This marked the first time in Gratton's collegiate career that he scored in back-to-back games.

The goal late in the opening frame is Gratton's second career game-winning goal.

Among Omaha defensemen, Gratton is tied for second in points (9), second in goals (2) and third in assists. Appearing in all 22 games this season, Gratton is tied for the team lead with 27 blocks.

Omaha returns to the Kemp Ice at Baxter Arena when it hosts No. 15 St. Cloud State in a two-game tilt on Friday, Jan. 24 and Saturday, Jan. 25. Both games begin at 7:07 p.m. CT.
