Mavericks Win Record-Setting Seventh Game in a Row

DENVER, Colo. - The Mavericks made history tonight when they set new program records in the Division I era for consecutive wins (seven) and consecutive wins to open conference play (five) as they defeated Denver 80-62 in their only game of the week.

The previous record of six straight wins was set in 2015-16 and again in 2019-20, with the 2015-16 squad also owning the previous consecutive conference wins record as well.

Omaha is the first team in the Summit League this year to reach five wins at a perfect 5-0, while this win streak has propelled the team to an 11-9 overall record. As for the Pioneers, they will continue to look for their first conference win as they fall to 0-5 with a 6-14 overall record.

Leaders for Omaha
For the second time this year, five Mavericks scored in double figures: JJ White (15), Tony Osburn (15), Ja'Sean Glover (13), Lance Waddles (11), and Marquel Sutton (10).

White made a team-high six field goals, including three from behind the arc, Osburn was a perfect 4-for-4 on three-pointers, and Glover went 5-for-5 from the line and led the team with six rebounds.

Team Stats
This marked the fifth time this year the Mavericks shot over 50% as a team, besting Denver 53.1% (26-for-49) to 42.6% (23-for-54). This was also the third game Omaha has shot over 50% from behind the arc, boasting a 55.6% 3-PT FG% (10-for-18) vs. just 35.0% (7-for-20) for the Pioneers. Omaha was also better from the line, going 81.8% (18-for-22) vs. 56.3% (9-for-16).

The Mavericks came out on top in rebounding as well at 33 to 26.

Inside the First Half
Initially trailing 5-0 to start the day, the Mavericks eventually came back to tie the game 9-9 at 15:21 off a three from White. Both teams would trade leads before a triple from Osburn put Omaha in front for good at 13:18. Thomas would pick up the next five Maverick points to grow the lead to four, before a 10-0 run featuring driving layups from Glover and Waddles made it an 11-point game at 25-14 with just over five to play.

The Pioneers did not let up over the final minutes of the half, though, as they went on to cut the lead back down to five with under 30 seconds left. With time running down, Osburn got the ball out of the timeout and punctuated the half with his second from behind the arc to put Omaha up 36-28.

Inside the Second Half
Omaha came into the second half red hot, with Osburn beginning it just like how he ended the first with another three, as the Mavericks took a 9-3 run into the first media timeout to grow the lead to 45-31.

The Mavericks just kept piling it on throughout the rest of the half, getting the lead to 56-40 by the 10-minute mark. Later, up 62-50 at 5:28, a layup from Isaac Ondekane followed by threes from Thomas and White made it a 20-point game with under five to play. With victory in sight, Omaha emptied the bench, leading to buckets from Pablo Soumare and Sebastian Perry, as they went on to make history in dominant fashion.

Game Notes
- White became the fourth Maverick of the year to cross 200 points, joining Sutton (327), Osburn (222), and Waddles (215), as he ended the night with 209.
- This historic run has featured three home wins and four road wins. Omaha now has five road victories on the season; the most the team has had since winning nine in the 2018-19 season.
