OMAHA, Neb. – Junior goaltender
Simon Latkoczy has been named to the 2025 Mike Richter Award Watch List as a candidate for the honor given to the top goaltender in men's college hockey, the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) announced today.
Latkoczy is one of 35 goaltenders named to the 2025 Mike Richter Award Watch List and one of two student-athletes who are Slovakia natives. Eight NCHC netminders and 11 juniors were named to the list.
To qualify for the list, goaltenders must either have met the minimum of a .920 save percentage or have a 2.30 goals against average or lower and played at least 33 percent of their team's games or minutes.
This is the second time Latkoczy has been named to the list, as he was also mentioned on the 2024 Mike Richter Award Watch List.
The five-time NCHC Goaltender of the Week is playing some of the best hockey of his collegiate career. In 2024-25, Latkoczy has a 2.32 goals against average, a .932 save percentage, 523 saves, an 8-9-0 record and one shutout through 17 games played (started all 17).
Latkoczy has recorded career highs this year in save percentage and saves through his first 17 games in a season dating back to his freshman campaign (2022-23).
Among NCHC goaltenders that have played at least 33 percent of its teams' minutes, the Trencin, Slovakia native ranks third in save percentage and first in saves.
The 5-foot-11, 177-pound goaltender has recorded three of the NCHC's top four games with the most saves by a single goaltender in 2024-25.
This past weekend, the junior played both games in a sweep of then-No. 13 Colorado College, appearing in his 70th collegiate game (69th start) in Friday's win and his 70th start on Saturday night.
Omaha travels to Oxford, Ohio, for a two-game series with NCHC foe Miami on Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m. ET/6:05 p.m. CT.
