Mavericks in the Tournament
The 2024 season marks the fourth straight appearance in the Summit League Championship and the third under head coach Mike Heard. Omaha has made it to the tournament in seven of the last eight seasons, with the only year missing postseason play being 2019.

Last season, the Mavericks earned their first Summit League Championship title going 3-0 in the tournament. With a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed, the Mavericks defeated North Dakota State 5-1 in their first game. Omaha dominated South Dakota 14-2 in five innings in game two to advance them to the championship game where they were faced with back-to-back defending champions South Dakota State. Omaha earned the championship title in a 1-0 shutout to give them their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. That was also the third consecutive season Omaha and SDSU had played in the championship game.
