Box Score The Omaha Mavericks Women's Tennis squad captured a big-time Senior Day victory over the St. Thomas Tommies this afternoon. Coming down to the very final set, Omaha edged the Tommies 4-3 in today's contest.

"This was a good match to come out on top. Credit to St. Thomas, they've gotten better every single year playing in the Summitt league. They are very challenging to play. They are difficult matchups. This match really just came down to competing," head coach Adam Summitt said.

Omaha opened up the match by sweeping all three doubles games. Zoe Adkins and Paula Arcarons won doubles 1, 6-3. The pairings of Khayli Buckels/Colby Kelley and Summer Shannon/Addison Miller followed suit by downing their opponents 6-2, 6-3 respectively.

"We played some of our best doubles of the year. today. We really took charge and controlled the match," Summitt said.

Singles, the Mavericks got wins from Adkins, Arcarons and Buckels. Arcarons won in straight sets in the singles 2 spot, 6-3, 6-0. After a 6-4 first set win for Buckels, her St. Thomas opponent retired after falling 0-3 in set two. In a three set thriller, Zoe Adkins battened down the hatches and came away with a match clinching victory. The Maple Grove, Minnesota native rattled off two straight set wins at 6-3, 6-4 after dropping the opening set, 4-6.

"Zoe did an unbelievable job, being down a set, and to come back and win it for the team. Just a great ending on senior day," Summitt said.

Following the victory, the Mavericks honored their four seniors this afternoon in Brooke Covington, Alexia DiGiulio, Addison Miller and Lillian Tiemeyer.

"We thank our four seniors for everything they've done. We will miss them dearly."

The Mavericks will wrap up the regular season next Saturday, April 13, on the road against Kansas City.
