Mavericks Welcome North Dakota State for Conference Opener

The 22-7 Omaha Mavericks commence conference play tomorrow Friday, March 22 with a double header against North Dakota State. First pitch will be at 1 p.m. and game two will start at 3 p.m.

    - The Mavericks host NDSU and start conference action with a 22-7 overall record, having gone 4-0 at home. 
    - Omaha is hot right now as they enter the weekend on an 11-game winning streak. With 11 straight wins under their belt, the Mavericks are tied for third for the longest current win streak in the country. 
    - The Mavericks had a big 5-2 win against Nebraska last night that broke an eight-game losing drought against the Huskers dating back to 2015. 
    - Lynsey Tucker sent a lead-off homer to center field, wasting no time getting Omaha on the board last night. 
    - With four runs in the fourth, the Mavericks were back on top and locked down defensively to take the win 5-2.

    - The Mavericks are ranked 64th in the national RPI rankings. 
    - Sydney Thomason earned the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors after her standout performance at the plate last week. Thomason went 6-for-17 at-bat for a .353 batting average and was 1.000 in slugging. The junior recorded three home runs, including two against Big 10 opponent Purdue. Her second against Purdue was a three-run home run that boosted Omaha to a 6-5 win and a weekend road sweep. Over the five games, Thomason also recorded four runs, two doubles, and eight RBIs. 
    - With seven on the season, Thomason now leads the Summit League in home runs. 
    - The Mavericks have scored first in 22 of their 29 games played and when scoring first the Mavericks have gone 19-3. Omaha has gone 13-2 when scoring in the first inning. 
    - With 111 strikeouts on the season, Meyer ranks fourth among all D1 pitchers. Meyer now has 891 career strikeouts, making her the Summit League's fifth-highest career strikeout leader. 
    - The Mavericks lockdown defense and .979 fielding percentage has jumped to 13 in the national rankings. As the Mavericks have shut-out nine opponents, Omaha is ranked eighth in the nation.

SCOUTING the North Dakota State Bison

North Dakota State will kick off conference play with a 12-20 overall record, having gone 4-11 on the road. Last weekend the Bison went 1-3 at the Saint Mary's tournament. NDSU ranks 86th nationally for their 32 stolen bases. 

PLAYERS TO WATCH
•  Bella Dean leads the Bison in hits (28), RBIs (21), doubles (6), home runs (6), and slugging (.515). On the field, Dean has made 49 putouts and 62 assists. 

• On the mound, Savy Williams has thrown 35 strikeouts and notched a 2.86 ERA. With 51.1 IP under her belt, she has allowed 65 hits, 33 runs, and 20 walks.
