The Omaha women's team is slated for a pair of road duals this weekend. The squad will travel to Marquette University to play on Friday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. The Mavericks will stay in Milwaukee to play Eastern Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m.
Omaha heads into this weekend with a 4-7 overall record, having gone 0-4 on the road.
"This weekend marks the halfway point for us, and I feel that we did a good job in continuing to get better as the year goes on," said head coach
Adam Summitt. "We have struggled in doubles a bit this season and consistency of play. A goal this weekend is to have 2 doubles points and play the same way, each day. As for singles, we have been getting good results, but have not able to collectively get them as a team. In our last 3 matches, we have played well—just a matter of winning key points to put ourselves in a position to win. Marquette will be challenging from start to finish. Eastern Illinois will not be easy, they have a young team and a new coach. I am sure they will be energized to play."
Marquette University enters the weekend with a 1-6 overall record.
Khalyli Buckels leads Omaha in the singles portion having gone 6-4. She's gone 2-0 in the No. 2 spot and 4-4 at No. 3.
Zoe Adkins and
Paula Arcarons have been a force in doubles this season. In the No. 1 spot, they have gone 6-2 and are currently on a two-match win streak.
As for Eastern Illinois, they enter this weekend with a 0-5 record on the season. The Panthers have only won 2-of-28 singles matches and 3-of-10 doubles.
