The Omaha Women's Tennis squad returns to the court for a pair of duals this weekend against Drake and Northern Iowa.
The 2-5 Mavericks will travel to Drake who is 2-2 on their season to start the action on Friday, Feb. 2.
"Drake will be a challenging matchup for us," said head coach
Adam Summitt. "They are returning 7 players that helped Drake win the Missouri Valley Conference Championship and play in the NCAA's. They have a nationally-ranked doubles team and are very well-coached. We have our work cut out for us. We have struggled some years with Drake, but the last couple years I feel our players have challenged them better to win or be in a position to win."
Following Friday's dual, the Mavericks close out the weekend on Sunday, Feb. 4 at Miracle Hill where they will take on Northern Iowa. The Panthers have gone 0-1 on the campaign, falling to Milwaukee in their opening dual.
"Northern Iowa is a team we have played every year I have been here. Last year they got the best of us. We hope to return the favor. We have seen them play quite often in the Fall and have a good feel of their game. At this level there are no easy outs. We have to be mentally and physically prepared to compete this weekend."
Sophomore
Summer Shannon leads the Mavericks in singles victories this season, going 3-2.
Khayli Buckels and

Zoe Adkins and
Paula Arcarons have gone 3-2 in the No. 1 doubles battles.
