Kansas shoots its way to win over Omaha

LAWRENCE, Kan.-  Omaha couldn't match strong shooting from Kansas, falling 75-56 at legendary Allen Fieldhouse.

Despite holding their own with the Jayhawks in most statistical categories, Omaha (1-4, 0-0 Summit League) couldn't overcome Kansas (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) shooting from the field, particularly from behind the 3 pt. line (26-58, 11-21). Omaha managed just 28% shooting from the field in the first half and never recovered. They shot just 35.3% for the game.

The Mavericks were led by Grace Cave's (Sr, Weeping Water, Neb.) game and season-high 21 points to go with 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Harriet Ford (Fr.,Perth, Western Australia) led all rebounders with 9 to go along with 3 points. Cora Olsen (Soph., Omaha) scored a season-high 15 points. Senior Katie Keitges (G-Sr., Knoxville, Iowa) had 6 points, 4 rebounds and two assists, nailing 2-4 threes.Alana Powell (Soph., Haymarket, Va.) added 5 pts, Lauren Perry (Jr., Sylvania, Ohio), Ja Harvey (Sr., San Diego, Calif.) and Aaliyah Moore (Sr., Milwaukee, Wisc.) chipped in 2 each.

Kansas was the second Power Five school on their non-conference schedule this season (Nebraska, Kansas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma), the next coming November 23 at Madison, Wisc.

The Mavericks return home to Baxter Arena November 26 at 7:00 p.m. CT to host Utah Valley State.
